Comic Review: Godzilla Rulers of Earth Issue #17

This issue of Rulers of Earth starts off with Godzilla ,and Anguirus heading out to sea going there separate ways after their battle with the MechaGodzilla's and Mecha-King Ghidorah . Lucy from the kaiju team then finds the two twins that were working with the cryogs knocked on the ground. Lucy then has a vision of Godzilla and a bunch of other kaiju after touching the two. I believe that these twins are the same twins that were Battra's versions of the shobijin from the earlier Godzilla comic series.

Comic Review: Godzilla Cataclysm Issue #3

The Godzilla Cataclysm series has been a pretty interesting one so far. The series takes place in a post apocalyptic world. The kaiju have brought about the end of the world but have not been seen for so many years, That many believe them to be things of legend now. Very few human survivors remain spread out across the world in small camps. Many of the living believe the kaiju were gods angry at them, so now they worship and perform human sacrifices for the kaiju.

Gesura then sinks into the ocean and the day is saved as Hyata shows up with Diamond Kick in custody.

Monster Profile: Ragon

Ultraman Review: Episode 4 "Five Seconds Before The Explosion"

This episode starts off with a space ship that is launching from Earth to help with the development of Jupiter. The ship soon explodes after launch and the Science Patrol discovers that the ships was carrying six nuclear bombs. One of the bombs exploded in the ocean and four more were recovered, but the sixth bomb is still missing. Shortly after a ship is attacked by Ragon a giant humanoid looking sea creature that was mutated by the nuclear explosion. Ragon soon makes land fall and begins attacking a hotel where Fuji and Hoshino are on vacation. Fuji alerts the scinence patrol and Hyata arrives. Hyata soon spots the sixth nuclear bomb resting on Ragon's shoulder. Hyata becomes Ultraman after Ragon shoots down the science patrols ship. Ultraman grabs the bomb just as it is about to fall off Ragon's back. Ragon begins attacking Ultraman, but Ultraman is at a disadvantage because he now only has one hand available for use because the nuclear bomb is in the other. It does not look good for Ultraman as Ragon keeps landing blows on Ultraman and hitting Ultraman with a radioactive breath. Ragon then grabs Ultraman's arm and knocks the bomb out of it. The bomb then hits the ground and becomes armed. Ultraman knows he only has 20 seconds before the bomb explodes so he reacts quickly by hitting Ragon with his power beam. Ragon falls into the ocean and Ultraman quickly grabs the bomb and flies it out to space just before it explodes.

Kong is Returning to the Big Screen! Skull Island Movie Announced!

So today at the Legendary Panel at the San Diego Comic-Con a Kong origin movie titled Skull Island was announced at the very end of the panel. There have been whispers about this movie for the last year or so across the web but today it has been made official. Legendary has been doing a killer job with everything lately and I have no doubt that this will be an awesome film. With the success of Pacific Rim, Godzilla, the announcement of sequels and now this I think it is safe to say that Monster flicks are back!

Hoshino jumps in the well to check it out and soon discovers a giant eye looking at him. The ground begins to shake and a landslide happens at a nearby power plant. The power plant begins to crumble and then we hear a roar. A translucent kaiju appears and we can see that the kaiju is the cause of the landslide and destroying the power plant.

Movie Review: Varan The Unbelievable [English Version] (1958)

The Plot:
This movie is about a U.S. and Japanese joint military experiment that takes place on a small Island off of Japan. The experiment is to test a chemical that can turn salt water into purified water so that it can become a safe drinkable source of water. The experiment is supposed to be carried out on a salt water lake on the Island, but the military is getting a lot of resistance from the Islands natives who claim the military will wake O-baki an ancient monster lives in the lake. O-baki is what they call Varan in the English version of this movie but he is more commonly known has Varan, so I will refer to him as Varan.

Ultraman Review: Ultra Operation #1 (Episode 1)

The episode starts with two orbs flying through space approaching earth. The blue orb crashes into a lake and the red orb collides mid air with a science exploration ship. Inside the science exploration ship was Hyata, who is part of a science investigation team. The Red orb then surrounds Hyata and takes him away. Inside the orb is Ultraman and we learn that he was chasing a monster named Bemular. Bemular was in the blue orb that crashed into the lake. Ultraman then apologizes for crashing into Hyata then sacrifices himself to save Hyata's life by joining together as one. Hyata's team arrives at the lake after finding out he was in a crash. Shortly after the team arrives Bemular rises from the lake. Hyata then informs his team that he is still alive and begins attacking Bemular with a submarine bellow the lake. The rest of the science team joins the attack from the air so that Bemular is being hit from above and below. Bemular then captures Hyata's submarine in his mouth and tosses it on land. Bemular then blast his blue fiery breath at the submarines and it becomes engulfed in flames. Hyata then raises the pod that Ultraman gave him to turn into the giant Ultraman. Ultraman then battles Bemular the two wrestle around for awhile and the fight is close. Bemular retreats back into the lake and attempts to escape in his blue orb back into space but Ultraman destroys the orb with his ray blowing it into pieces.

World War Kaiju Graphic Novel Delayed Again

According to the latest update from the Kickstarter funded graphic novel World War Kaiju there has been another delay with the printing. This time there was an issue with the glue that held the book together but it was caught early and is being worked on. I cannot wait to receive my physical copy of this book. I did not read my digital version because I want to experience the physical copy of it first. I have followed the creation of this novel from the beginning and can tell it will be a great read.  So keep a look out for World War Kaiju the way the update sounded like we will most likely see the physical copy mid August. I cannot wait to get my copy!

Comic Review: Godzilla Rulers of Earth Issue #13

This issue starts off on Monster Island 4 years after the events of issue #12. We learn that there has not been a Godzilla sighting for 4 years. Monster Island is now a Kaiju sanctuary that has been run pretty well with very few incidents. Zilla has just appeared off the shore of Monster Island but has not yet made the Island his home. We learn the the world governments no longer wish to fund the search for Godzilla or any other Kaiju that have not yet been discovered. The government believes Godzilla is dead and that funds can be better spent instead of maintaining a home for the Kaiju on Monster Island, and chasing after Godzilla. We then see a group of men in the arctic that are out clubbing seals when on unfortunate hunter comes across a just awakened Godzilla. The government is about to find out that they were wrong about Godzilla being dead.

Leaks of Godzilla PS3 Video Game in the Making?

There has supposedly been image leaks of a Godzilla video game that is in the works by Namco. This has been the talk across the web for the last 2 days I have not yet seen anything official but there are a few screen shots of a 3D rendered Heisei looking Godzilla floating around the web. What I think is weird is that the rumors have all been stating that this is for the PS3. Why just the PS3? Why not the PS4 or Xbox or Nintendo platforms? The graphics in the pictures don't look like anything special either which could be one reason it will be behind a generation. As a PS4 owner I hope that this game does come out as a downloadable game on the market for PS4 owners. I really do hope they make a game but I do not think it will work out very well if it is exclusively for PS3. Once I see some official release information on this rumored game I will be sure to let everyone know.

Review: King Kong [1933]

The Plot:
The film starts off with film maker Carl Denham in need of an actress for his new film which he plans to film on an Uncharted Island. Due to Denham's reputation of filming dangerous animals in exotic locations, there is no talent agency willing to give up one of their actresses for him. Denham soon runs into Ann Darrow a beautiful woman in financial need. Denham and Ann take off to film on a ship he has charted called the Venture. While on the ship Ann and the ships first mate Jack Driscoll quickly fall in love after spending the journey together. On a foggy night the ship starts to enter very low waters so the crew drops anchor and wakes up the next morning to discover that they have arrived at the Uncharted Island that no one believe existed.

More Godzilla Comics Are Coming!

IDW's Godzilla Rulers of Earth will be getting a sixteenth issue in September and the Godzilla Cataclysm mini-series kicks of with its first issue in August. Which means we will be getting four Godzilla comic books across August and September. My favorite thing to find in my mail over the last 12 months has been my monthly Godzilla Rulers of Earth issue. Rulers of Earth has been one of those series that you have to wait for every month and hope that the last issue they announced was not the last. Rulers of Earth is so far my favorite Godzilla comic series, I love the art work from Matt Frank ,and I think the story would make for a great series of movies if Toho ever decided to do their own run at a Godzilla film series again (which I hope they do). Now with the five part Godzilla Cataclysm series being announced and the big success of Legendary's 2014 movie I feel that Rulers of Earth will continue on for awhile. IDW has done a great job with all of it's Godzilla comic series and I highly recommend checking out these comics if you are a Godzilla fan. So go down to your local comic book shop and request these comics or go to my favorite comic book site tfaw.com  to pre-order.

Movie Review Section Added

I have now added a movie review section to the site. If you check the navigation bar at the top of the page you will see a tab that says movie reviews. I pretty much listed all of the Monster movies that are in my collection and that I plan on reviewing. I am sure that there are a few movies missing from the list but they will make it there over time. As I review the movies they will become available on the page. I also plan on doing a section with all monster bios soon. Thanks for reading and look out for new articles.

Godzilla vs Biollante DVDs and Blu-rays are Now Out of Print!

Update: I just recieved a cancellation emaim from Deepdiscount.com they said Godzilla vs Biollante is now out of stock.

So if you are new to Godzilla and have been trying to build up a collection you may have noticed on eBay, and Amazon that Godzilla vs Biollante has now joined the club of over priced Godzilla movies especially the Blu-ray version. I have seen the Blu-ray listed for over $80 and DVD is going for about $25. The $25 for the DVD is not horrible but it is not great considering, up until the annoucement that they were going to stop printing this movie, it was the easiest/cheapest blu-ray and dvd you could find. When they were still printing this movie you could get the DVD in your $5 and under section at target or Wal-Mart and the blu-ray you could even grab for under $10 in some stores but that is no longer the case now we have highly inflated prices online. So hurry out to your local Targets, Wal-Marts, and what ever retailers you buy your DVDs from to try and find some leftovers before they are gone. I tried to go to the Target near work today but they did not have anymore copies, but they did have a tag on the shelf for it. Online it has been removed from most big name retailers or listed as unavailable. But I have some good news, if you hurry you can still grab a DVD copy from deepdiscount.com for only $4.99 with $2 shipping.

Blu-ray Review: Godzilla vs Hedorah (Godzilla vs The Smog Monster)[1969]

With all the blu-ray releases over the last few months I have been watching through my collection all over again. I was so happy that many Godzilla and other kaiju films finally made it to blu-ray. The Godzilla vs Hedorah blu-ray had very nice improvements on the picture quality.  I am not a snob when it comes to the video quality of Godzilla movies, because pretty much all of the movies from this genre are more than 20 years old, except for the millennium series of course. There were a few spots where I noticed that they could have sharpened the picture  a little bit more but overall I would say the improvements were great. I highly recommend this movie if you are looking to add blu-rays to your movie collection and would like a sharpened image quality. Be sure to check out my full review here of the actual movie itself.

Where to get a DVD copy of Godzilla 1985 / Godzilla Returns.

Hello everyone! The new 2014 film has drawn so many new Godzilla fans, I figured now would be a good time to help out some of them who are trying to start a Godzilla DVD collection by helping you all find a copy of Godzilla 1985/ Godzilla Returns.
